To : All Office Bearers / Affiliated Associations

 

1.       At the outset let me wish the bridge fraternity of India and their families a Very Very happy Dasera, Durga Puja and Diwali.

 

2.       The overall Bridge activity in the country has improved immensely with many federation level tournaments. Many individuals and the corporate sector are coming forward to render financial assistance and services. To enlarge the scope of sponsorship, some of the senior players especially from Mumbai have suggested relaxation of rules applicable to only the sponsors and those that are rendering immense service to the game.

 

1.       To allow a seventh member to a team

2.       To seed in a pairs events to the final stages of the game

3.       To be lenient for late arrivals

4.       To provide opportunity to play in all events such as SAARC tournament, Zonal pairs events, Life Masters event, National Masters events and other invitational and restricted events.

 

In the past the President of the Federation used to take all these decisions and relax the rules. Member associations and office bearers are requested to send in their views. The individual players can also send in their suggestion through their respective controlling bodies.

 

3.       The following individuals have been identified for these special favours. The list may be incomplete and omissions are not intentional.

4.       Web Page : As you are all aware, BFI has opened a special page in http://www.bridgeinindia.homestead.com/ All associations are requested to send the programs, which will be put in the net.

 

5.       Since the last circular, other than the calendar of events published, Delhi Bridge association GPI Prize money tournament between 13th to 16th of this month, which was well attended. Goa Bridge Association also held Rajaram Hede Memorial tournament.

 

6.       Olympiad : World Bridge Olympiad is shortly taking place between 23rd October to 6th November 2004. The BFI contingents (Open and Ladies) will represent the country, which was cleared by the Minister of Sports – GOI, for which Ministry of Sports – GOI accorded permission. Mr.Mukul Chatterji Hony Secretary will be the official delegate and will be in full charge of the teams.

8.       It is my regular request to all the associations to have e-mail ids so that communication can be passed more regularly, at a lesser cost and in less time.

 

9.       Last but not least, it bothers me to remind all the associations to pay their dues with regard to WBF fee for the year 2004 and other capitation fees.
